I need a home!!!!! Help Me!

Help Me Find A Home!!

 (Dayton, OH area)
9-12 month old husky/shepherd mix needs a home. He's incredibly mellow and good natured. Will need someone to help him learn to play ball!

Skin and bones!!!! This sweet dog was found in an area of town where people drop their dogs off and leave them. It took me several cans of dog food, water and quite a bit of time before I could coax him over to me.
He appears to have been an outdoor puppy based on the fact that he had a little bit of a lead still on him. His ears have been eaten by flies which usually only occurs when a dog is kept on a very short lead in high temperatures. He is also incredibly malnourished so it seems he was likely tied up and forgotten.

He doesn't appear to have have much human interaction and is initially skittish of people. He is coming around rather quickly though. He loves to curl up next to me and sleep! We are currently working on potty training.

Temperament: He's really mellow and sweet! He is dog friendly and gets along with my 3 dogs. One of my dogs is pretty territorial and hates most other dogs, but they get along well.

Breed: Some kind of shepherd and husky mix. He's pretty small so something else might be in there. The vet did not believe he had any Pit in him (if that matters).

Age: Young - 9-12 months old. His adult teeth are in and very clean. He seems puppy like still.

Size: He's currently 31lbs and very underweight. He'll probably be a solid 40lbs once he's at a healthy size. On the Dog Body Composition Scale, he scored a 1 out of 9. Read more about that here.

Kids: He hasn't been around them yet, but given how easy going he is, I imagine he would do just fine. (Update - he does pretty good with kids!)

Cats: Not tested yet. Again, he's pretty mellow and nonreactive so he might be a good candidate. (Update: scared of some cats but not others)

Vet: He's been to the vet and has received his shots, heartworm prevention, and a month of Revolution. Oddly enough, he was parasite free!

Fixed? He's not fixed yet however, he will need to be in a couple of weeks once he gains some weight. This is a non-negotiable part of his adoption. Whoever adopts him must agree to do this.

Update:

This little guy is doing some home visits with potential adopters. Nothing is finalized at this time though. We do not want to rush the process nor do we operate on a first come, first serve basis. Each applicant is screened and will be asked to submit an application form. A meet & greet will be scheduled as well as a series of home visits. If you have expressed interest and haven't heard back from us, I apologize. We are still trying to catch up with those who have contacted us! If you think you can offer a great home for him, please don't hesitate to contact us!
